The mains are mostly small plates not so small you don't get full , everything from oysters to crab, to A very special place. A great spot for dinner with a cool interior and delicious menu. The drinks were exciting and we had a few small plates which were all very tasty. The staff gave great recommendations.

They gave a disclaimer that one dish was really spicy, and in Best meal of this trip. Scallop ceviche, shaved tuna, and tamales tasted amazing! Awesome selection on natty wine to pair with each course. Margaritas were perfect to fire the meal off.

Very friendly service and the owner checked on us to make sure we were My kinda place!! Loved the crushed avocado and salsa corn tortilla appetizer and the oysters with uni -delicious and wanted more! And the peekytoe crab was to die for The Hamachi Collar was good as well, but deep in the fish realm do not for the faint of heart, but I enjoyed it.

Will be back! We just came across this restaurant while looking for something different to eat. The food and the drinks were simply amazing. Nneka and Rivers.

Had an app and a cocktail and they were great. Service was super friendly and attentive. It was the avocado dip and we almost ordered a other one! Martini and Caipirinha were great. Portland has not seen anything like Regards, and I mean that in a positive way. The cuisine seems pan-Latin American to me, though I may not know what I am talking about in saying that.

There are occasional Mexican aspects such as mole sauce but For those of us which were fans of Emilitsa, the restaurant formerly in this space, the change is emotionally complicated. The space and fixtures are the same, but the ambiance is a lot more casual. Graciousness has been replaced by friendliness and a kind of sophisticated informality. We each had one of the four craft cocktails on the menu, both of which our server described with enthusiasm.

One was a hibiscus infused local gin martini, and the other a margarita. We were pleasantly surprised that neither was very sweet. We found them enjoyable if not memorable. Four is a bit short for an innovative cocktail list. The restaurant feels it is a small plates establishment and that items should be shared. Actually, the portions were satisfyingly generous in most cases, and three for a big eater and two for a smaller one makes a satisfying meal.

Note that dishes change regularly, and one of the dishes we had was just added to the menu. Our reactions to our five dishes was mixed. The bacalao dish and the mackerel were brilliant, and the best I have ever had either central ingredient.

Bacalao can be very salty, and mackeral can have a bitter aftertaste; neither was the case here. The former came in a red sauce pibil? A salad with endive, pears, hazlenuts and some kind of cheese was also really good, but the leaves sat on top of the dressing so it was hard to combine them. I also had a starter of raw hamachi with a cold green sauce and a thinly sliced daikon-like vegetable. The taste was interesting, but there was very little hamachi, and this was extremely spicy even for me; I don't avoid hot pepper.

Nothing else we had was spicy, by the way. My wife's wagyu beef was a pretty unadorned 4-oz portion sitting starkly in the middle of a dinner plate. It appeared that the server had forgottenn about it, since it arrived both overcooked and stone cold. Note that, as our server warned us, "dishes arrive when they are completed" so it is difficult to pace a meal. The hamachi, indeed, arrived moments after our cocktails did, and the beef well after I had finished my three courses.

An additional small issue is that Regards serves dishes in containers which can be awkward. The hamachi required cutting up, which was difficult in a small, high sided bowl. My wife found the salad a bit awkward. A new restaurant deserves time to get the kinks out. It was good to see that the restaurant was full on a Thursday night. We agreed that Regards shows enormous promise and is capable of brilliant dish conception and creation.
